Funk rock mixed the grooves and heavy bass of funk with hard rock. This music inspired the alternative metal subgenre of funk metal, along with alternative metal bands like Faith No More. The infectious grooves would prove to be a huge influence on the “money riff” used in the thrash subcategory of groove metal. The influences can also be seen in rap metal and nu metal which are two more dance inducing forms of heavy metal.
Bands include Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction
