Set to commence on July 23rd in Columbus, Ohio, the short but ravaging trek will topple fourteen cities followed by an appearance at Michigan’s Dirt Fest as well as additional tour dates supporting Killswitch Engage.

Comments guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala, “We’re excited to announce our first headlining run in quite a while. It’s short but sweet, and this gives us time to write the new record this Summer. We are stoked to have our Canadian brothers, Crimson Shadows, joining us. We did a short run with those guys earlier this year and they’re a great live band and have an awesome record coming out next Fall.”

Guitarist Tony Asta says, “The past year has been very inspiring for the band and our attitude towards the writing process this time around is more confident and driven. Internal Bleeding

New York death metal band, Internal Bleeding, recently completed tracking their forthcoming full-length album Imperium, which clocks in at close to one hour and contains all new material from the band. “It’s Internal Bleeding on steroids,” adds bassist Jason Liff. “It’s got all the classic IB hallmarks-incredibly memorable grooves and slam parts – plus it has so much more. BLACK COBRA Denied Entry Into Canada

Black Cobra

Black Cobra tried to cross the Canadian border twice and was refused both times without explanation.  On a co-headlining tour alongside Anciients, with opening support from Black Wizard, the band had invested thousands of dollars in merchandise for the tour. Black Cobra issued the following collective statement yesterday to their fans on the debacle: “As many of you already know, we were denied entry at the border of Canada. Because of the financial strain this has put on us, we were forced to cancel the remaining tour dates in the US as well. In the meantime, we will continue working on our forthcoming record and are looking into booking another tour in the US. We apologize to our fans and thank you for your continued support.”

New US Black Cobra tour actions will be confirmed immediately and announced in the coming days; no Canadian dates will be scheduled. Metal Descent will keep you posted.

I.O.’s TIDBITS:

There are “ominous” rumblings about a possible Fall tour featuring Death To All (Death tribute band), Obituary, Massacre, and (one of my personal favorites) Rivers of Nihil. Squeeeee??? Please? An unsubstantiated but very exciting rumor.

The 2nd Housecore Horror Film & Music Festival is scheduled for October 23-26 at Emo’s and Midway’s in Austin, TX. Hosted by Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe (who experienced his own horror movie last week), the festival boasts performances by Satyricon, EyeHateGod, Macabre, Cattle Decapitation, Unearth and more. Curated by none other than Phil Anselmo and Corey Mitchell, the details can be found HERE.

Iron Maiden front man Bruce Dickenson (apparently its Dr. Dickenson these days) caused a bit of a controversy when he opened up in an interview with The Guardian correspondent, Frank Turner to say that “The closest the ‘art establishment’ ever came to embracing metal was punk.” He went on to talk about industry control and how the punk genre thumbed its nose at the “art establishment.” I’m not sure what all the fuss is about. I can’t find where Bruce supposedly said Maiden wasn’t influenced by punk. He doesn’t identify Maiden with punk, but he was pretty tongue in cheek about saying punk-rockers wanted to be “in a heavy metal band surrounded by porn stars.” Crivens!* It was just one little paragraph. Everyone get their undies out of a twist.

*Crivens! is an exclamation of many uses coined by the Wee Free Blue Men of the Nac Mac Feegle Clan who are characters in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Series. Excuse me, Sir Terry Pratchett.
