MOTLEY CRUE Farewell Tour Plagued With “Technical” Difficulties
Looks like MOTLEY CRUE is suffering a case of Murphy’s Law as everything that could go wrong on their Farewell Tour does. Between torn drum heads, inaudible singing, botched guitar cues, and what appears to be a lapse in professionalism, the first three gigs were a “festival of facepalms.” Read more. Tickets may be bought HERE.
PRIMUS/PUSCIFER Drummer Joins The Zipper Club
PRIMUS/PUSCIFER Drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander is now a member of one of the most bad-assed clubs in America. After successful open heart surgery, Primus’ Facebook announced that “the blockage from his heart has been removed with no complications and all signs point to a glorious and speedy recovery.” Wear your zipper with pride, Tim. We’re rooting for you. Read more.
MEGADETH Alumni Nick Menza And James Lomenzo Collaboration
The former MEGADETH drummer (Menza) and bassist (Lomenzo) have collaborated on a release of a cover of METALLICA’s “Motorbreath” and it fucking shreds. Will there be original music? More covers? No one’s telling but have a listen:
LEAKED Or TANKED? The Revolution Society Tour
The Revolution Society Tour Facebook has yet to announce the tour dates that is purported to include performances from MACHINE HEAD, CHILDREN OF BODOM, EPICA and BATTLECROSS. Dates were leaked on July 17th only they are “completely wrong.” Read more. The Facebook page promised to announce dates on July 14th and after an apology, rescheduled the announcement for July 21st. I checked before scheduling this post late last night, and still no dates. I do know that BATTLECROSS starts their headlining tour next week. So if you’re phening for phenomenal thrash, check out their tour dates HERE.
Someone Started What? GHOST Petitioned To Break Up
A young man named Sven Armdacht started a petition on Change.org with the sole aim of rendering GHOST defunct. He submitted the petition with the following reasoning:
[Ghost] wish to destroy real metal with their carnival music nonsense. . . We the people oppose Ghost continuing as a band, and they should split up as soon as possible.
Well, kid, I hate to break it to you, but you probably did GHOST a favor. Everyone’s making such a stink over this that more traffic will be driven to sites about GHOST than ever before. I hope you’re happy. Read more.
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY: Drummer Reed Mullin Forced To Sit Out Live Dates
“We are sorry to announce that Reed Mullin will not be onboard for this tour. He’s been playing through pain, awaiting a strategic time to repair a full tear of his rotator cuff. That’s a seriously bum shoulder. So he’s going to get that repaired and rehabbed. During the interim, we’re enlisted Mr. Eric Hernandez formerly of Kylesa to help us until then. Eric came to our attention when we approached Rick Smith of Torche about filling in and he recommended Eric, who he grew up with in Miami. Eric has also filled in for Ricky in Torche a few times with great results. He is, like Reed, a hard hitter, and thankfully possesses the capacity to learn and digest detailed material quickly and accurately.”
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY is currently leveling the stages of New Zealand and Australia which will be followed by a two-week North American run scheduled to commence on August 20th in Spokane and come to a close in Vancouver on September 1st. The band will be joined by Bl’ast!, Brant Bjork & The Low Desert Punk Band and Lord Dying. (Genre: Hardcore)
Soap Opera Alert: Royal DIAMOND Drama
We’ve got a lovely little he-said-he-said going on as KING DIAMOND and former bassist Hal Patino sharpened their tongues at each other’s expense. King Diamond suggested that Patino was fired for “lack of enthusiasm and drug problems.” Patino suggests that he left because he was offered a ridiculously insulting salary for his employment. The truth always lies somewhere in the middle of a divide. Read more.
Former W.A.S.P. Guitarist Is Now From France
France, we’re sorry. We didn’t mean to drive Chris Holmes to your Mediterranean shores, but apparently he thinks that running away from gansta rap will solve all his
mental metal problems. From the way he tells it, y’all don’t have that dirty, pants-half-mast music over there. I will say that the American market for heavy metal is not as robust as the market in Europe (which can be supported by-gasp-statistical analysis). Oh, and one other thing, Mr. Holmes, gangsta rap will find you. Even in France. Like cats who know someone is allergic, it will find you. Read more.
AS I LAY DYING vocalist Tim Lambesis Denied Credit for Jail Time Served
I know that there is a severe polarization here for fans of AS I LAY DYING. Whether or not Lambesis was guilty of contracting a hitman to execute his estranged wife, that is a matter for the court to decide. We don’t have all the facts. The judge, based on the court evidence, refused to commute Lambesis’ sentence to account for time already served. Given that his former band mates have rallied behind the estranged wife, everyone should begin to question whether Lambesis really is the victim. Guys don’t turn on a bro’ without good reason. End of story. If you must, read more.
