FAITH NO MORE to Release New Album in 2015

After 18 years, FAITH NO MORE will release their seventh studio album on their own imprint, Reclamation Records (distributed by Ipecac Recordings). Bassist Bill Gould told Rolling Stone:

“The name has to do with the fact that we realized we were free from our recording obligations,” says Gould. “We weren’t touring, we have these songs that we were working on — that we think are pretty cool — and why don’t we just do our own imprint and kind of reclaim our future, in a way? We own the future more than we ever have.”

TESTAMENT Rumors of New Album in 2015

So I’m looking up the goods for this week’s digest when I ran across THIS:

Someone’s been busy collecting all the anticipated heavy metal album releases and tours for 2015. I was just looking up the TESTAMENT rumor of a new album due out in 2015. There was another rumor about a new album for the summer of 2014 this past January. Of course, the 2014 in heavy metal music entry is updated though not complete.

I think the enlightened readership of Metal Descent should give Wikipedia a hand. Have a look and submit an edit. Setting up an account is easy. I did it in less than 30 seconds just by clicking the Edit tab (right hand side). Wikipedia practically begged me to give them some tidbit. It was almost adorable if it wasn’t so damn creepy.

If you submit an edit to one of Wikipedia’s heavy metal music pages (and make sure you can annotate your factoids), tell us about it in the comments below. Tell us which year, which event category, and which band. We’ll include your Facebook name and the details in a future news post as an Enlightened Heavy Metallist. Remember S/HE who writes history is the victor. Meanwhile, try this TESTAMENT classic on for size:

CHIMAIRA Deserts Mark Hunter – AGAIN

I’ve always believed that a person’s external world is a mirror of his or her internal world. Whatever is going on outside of you is a reflection of who you are and often how you feel about yourself. If most people think you’re a douche nozzle, then despite what your mother tells you, you probably are.

I’m not quick to judge, but I do know that bands are like polygamous marriages. There is usually a leader or even a strong duo around which the other members revolve. Sure, one or another of the band members might try out an arrangement in a supergroup or a side project, but usually, if the primary band is healthy, they always come back home.

So I’m trying to walk in Mark Hunter’s shoes. In essence, he has been divorced, twice by nine different people. I’m not saying this makes him a bad guy. A divorce happens to the best of us. I mean, I’m okay. Really. But after just one of those, I was reflecting on why it had happened. Two divorces would have sent me over the edge wondering what the hell was wrong with me-one-for getting married again in the first place and-two-for not figuring out what I did wrong the first time because I’m the only common, fucking denominator.

Just a thought. For more on the November 2011 desertion, go HERE. For the latest on the 2014 desertion, start HERE.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and Pepper Keenan! Reissue of Blind and Deliverance On Vinyl!

tnReed “Mule” Mullin had this to say about the rumors that Pepper Keenan was reuniting with CoC:

“Yeah, we’re getting together next year…. We’re going to do an album and do some touring. We’ve done this three piece enough to where we want to do something different. That’s going to happen probably somewhere close to the beginning of the year. He has that band DOWNthat does okay.”

Seriously, I feel a SQUEE of epic proportions coming on so have a read HERE while I go look for my composure (and my badge for those of you who know that story).

In addition to this bit of history in the remaking, two seminal albums by metal pioneers Corrosion of Conformity (C.O.C.), the 1991 landmark Blind and its acclaimed 1994 follow-up Deliverance, will be reissued on vinyl by Prosthetic Records this fall. While an exact release date has not yet been confirmed, both titles, limited to 1,000 copies each, are currently available for pre-order in the Prosthetic webshop. New editions of vintage merch designs from the era are now available as well. Reserve yours now!

Who? What? THE HELL?

The HellI covered this band in a Sounds of the Heavy Metal Underground article. They have 5,631 Facebook likes as of this writing. They are obnoxious, rude, offensive, unpolitically correct, and deceptively intelligent. I wonder if it’s the bandannas that allow them to speak the things some of us only think in the dark corners of our minds?

Anyway, they took a good hard look at the state of the metal union and had this to say:

To read the full OPEN letter, click HERE. Be forewarned that there are many pairs of undergarments in a twist over this letter. In response to  the overwhelming belly-aching of the more passionate Metalcore fans, THE HELL appeased their offended sensibilities by breaking up at 7:56 a.m. on August 31st. <pause> I am pleased to announce that they have reunited (and it feels so good)as of 1:00 pm on August 31st. Those were the longest 5 hours and 4 minutes EVER of my life! Don’t you ever do that to me again! What. The. Hell. To get the full skinny, go HERE.

EXODUS Announce Blood In Blood Out Release

ExodusLegendary architects of thrash metal EXODUS have revealed the track listing for their upcoming tenth studio album, Blood In Blood Out, due out in North America on October 14th. Says guitarist & songwriter Gary Holt:

“When I was working on the record, I was sitting around watching TV series like ‘Gangland’ and all these locked-up prison reality shows…and I thought, ‘Yeah, that’s like EXODUS.’  It’s a brotherhood.  You bleed to get in, you bleed to get out.  I’ve been doing this kind of music since I was a teenager and I’ll be doing it ‘til I can’t physically do it anymore.”

Crafting an industrial sound bed on the intro to the album opener “Black 13” is electronic music producer Dan the Automator (GORILLAZ, MIKE PATTON, DELTRON 3030).

TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy lends his signature roar to the track “BTK,” one of the first songs recorded by returning vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza, who recently said:

“Chuck and I have known each other forever. We work really well together, we know each other really well. So if I’m doing my vocals and he’s there, I can trust him to go ‘No way Zet, doesn’t sound good like that. Do it like this,’ or ‘Yeah that’s killer.’ If he says it sounds killer, I know it is.”

Original band guitarist Kirk Hammett (METALLICA) contributed a solo to “Salt The Wound.”

Blood In Blood Out Track Listing:
01 – Black 13
02 – Blood In, Blood Out
03 – Collateral Damage
04 – Salt The Wound
05 – Body Harvest
06 – BTK
07 – Wrapped In The Arms Of Rage
08 – My Last Nerve
09 – Numb
