Slayer guitarist and founder Jeff Hanneman would be celebrating his 50th birthday today.  As many of us know the thrash metal pioneer lost his life at the age of 49 back on May 2, 2013 due to liver failure.  Today on his birthday, we along with the entire metal community would like to celebrate his life and the major influence that both his writing and playing style had on the world of thrash and extreme metal.  From all of us at Metal Descent, we say Happy Birthday and RIP Jeff Hanneman.  You are sorely missed.  Here is how some metal bands and personalities are responding and celebrating on social media:

How are you choosing to remember Jeff Hanneman today?  Tell us right here.  We will post the best comments on our Facebook page.
